Day 4: Unpacking Chapter 3 of the NSCS Annual Review 2024: Strengthening the UK's Cyber Ecosystem

The NCSC Annual Review 2024 highlights exciting developments in building the UK’s cyber ecosystem, particularly in Chapter 03. This section focuses on fostering skills, enhancing collaboration, and driving innovation—three pillars that resonate deeply with us at tmc3.

📈 Investment in Skills: Programmes like CyberFirst are shaping the next generation of cyber professionals, but building a truly resilient ecosystem requires inclusivity at its core. That’s why we’re proud to highlight the tmc3 Academy, which is dedicated to nurturing diverse talent and promoting opportunities for women in tech, helping to close the gender gap in cyber security.

The Academy’s initiatives include mentorship programmes, tailored training pathways, and a supportive environment where aspiring professionals can thrive. As one of our graduates, Becky Evans, puts it:

" Being part of the tmc3 Academy/Graduate Programme has been an incredible journey of growth and learning. The programme has equipped me with hands-on experience, training, and mentorship that have been instrumental in kick-starting my career in cyber security. As a woman in cyber, I feel empowered working in an environment that celebrates diversity and promotes inclusivity. It is incredibly inspiring to be part of a team where different perspectives are valued, and everyone is encouraged to thrive."

This commitment to inclusivity is matched by tmc3’s recognition as one of The Times Best Places to Work 2024 — an honour that reflects our dedication to creating a workplace culture where innovation, collaboration, and diverse perspectives are celebrated.

By focusing on building not just skills but equitable opportunities, tmc3 is helping organisations across the UK access a scalable pool of cyber security talent equipped to meet today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.

🤝 Collaboration: Tackling complex cyber challenges requires robust partnerships across government, academia, and industry. We bring this collaborative spirit to our work in building Information Security Management Systems, developing Cyber Strategies, and End-To-End Cyber Security Transformations, aligning with our clients’ goals to create comprehensive and actionable outcomes.

As the NCSC emphasises, developing the UK’s cyber ecosystem isn’t just about individual organisations—it’s about a collective effort to secure our shared digital future. This vision resonates strongly with our work here at tmc3 and plays a pivotal role in driving collaboration and strategic alignment across public sector organisations.

As a business we aim to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, resources, and best practices among public sector entities, ensuring that cyber security strategies are not developed in isolation but as part of a cohesive national effort. By uniting diverse organisations under a common framework, tmc3 enables public sector bodies to justify their investments in cyber security initiatives, aligning these with broader government objectives and ensuring maximum impact.

Through initiatives like coordinated risk assessments, shared threat intelligence, and cross-organisational training programmes, tmc3 fosters a culture of collaboration that strengthens resilience across the board. As our Director and Chartered Cyber Security Professional (ChCSP), with the UK Cyber Security Council Adam Casey notes:

"True collaboration is about building bridges between organisations, ensuring that shared intelligence and resources lead to smarter, more unified responses to cyber threats. At tmc3, we’re proud to champion this ethos in everything we do."

This collaborative approach not only reduces duplication of efforts but also allows public sector organisations to demonstrate value for money while addressing the ever-evolving threat landscape.

In a world where cyber threats transcend organisational boundaries, efforts like these led by tmc3 highlight how working together amplifies impact and accelerates progress towards a more secure digital future.

🚀 Innovation: Supporting startups and SMEs is critical to driving cutting-edge solutions for national security. At tmc3, we are proud to contribute to this mission through our close collaboration with TechUK, a partnership that enables us to remain at the forefront of technological advancements and shape the cyber security conversation within the core of industries.

Our commitment to innovation is further demonstrated through the writing and publishing of whitepapers, which provide actionable insights and strategic guidance for organisations navigating the complexities of cyber security.

This dedication to innovation has also been recognised with our shortlisting for the JOSCAR SME Innovation Award—a moment that reflects the creativity, impact, and excellence of the tmc3 team. As our Head of Customer Success Andrew Pyne describes it:

"I am so proud of all the work the tmc3 team has done to get us to the position where we are receiving this level of recognition. It is a testament to the hard work and culture that we are building here. Innovation isn't something we do; it's part of who we are. We're crafting something special come join us."

Through these initiatives, we empower organisations to build resilience, embrace emerging technologies, and stay ahead in an ever-evolving threat landscape.
