tmc3 Achieves Prestigious Silver Award for Support to the Armed Forces Community

We are proud to announce that tmc3 has been awarded the Silver status under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. With our strong military ties, we decided to make this firm commitment to support current/service leavers and their families, within our business.

The Employer Recognition Scheme was launched to reward employers who support Defence People objectives and encourage others to do the same. This includes employing serving and former members of the Armed Forces community, and demonstrating flexibility towards training and mobilisation commitments for Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.

To achieve the Silver award, we have proven our sustained commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated with fairness and respect in their communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.

We have endeavored to go above and beyond, becoming a truly armed-forces-friendly employer by fostering an internal culture that champions military personnel, veterans, and their families. This is visible in our recruitment and selection processes where we ensure no member of the service personnel is unfairly disadvantaged.

Having submitted the application for Silver early this year, our nomination was validated and considered by a selection board. Chaired by senior military officers, the panel considered our nomination against the award criteria and ultimately recommended tmc3 should receive the award.

Commenting on the announcement of the 2023 Employer Recognition Scheme Silver awards; Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Reserve & Cadets), Major General Marc Overton said:

I would like to thank and congratulate the recipients of this year’s Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Awards. A Silver award recognises the fantastic efforts of employers throughout the UK who have both elevated their commitments under the Armed Forces Covenant and provided actual benefits to the Armed Forces Community.

The winners should all be proud of their life-changing impact and fresh opportunities they are providing to our Reservists, veterans and their families. The number of winners this year yet again shows that the Armed Forces family talent pool is also providing tangible business benefit.

Nathan Tittensor, Director, tmc3 added:

It is a true honour to accept the Silver Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme on behalf of our entire team at tmc3. This award is not simply a recognition of our corporate policies, but a reflection of the heart and soul of our company - our deep-seated commitment to supporting the heroes of our nation. As a veteran, I'm pleased to say the Armed Forces community is an integral part of our company, and we firmly believe in their skills, their resilience, and the unique perspectives they bring to our team.

We consider it our responsibility to provide a supportive environment where they can thrive, and this recognition validates the steps we've taken in that direction. However, this is not the end. The journey continues as we remain steadfast in our commitment to foster an even more inclusive and nurturing space for our Armed Forces community. I express my sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Defence for this esteemed recognition, and I pledge that tmc3 will continue to uphold the values of the Armed Forces Covenant in every aspect of our operations."

Receiving the Silver award serves as a testament to tmc3's robust policies, commitment to employees from the Armed Forces community, and our endeavour to serve those who serve our nation. We will continue to strive towards achieving the Gold award, and are hopeful of creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for our heroes and their families.

To support the reservists and former service personnel we work with, we’ve also created a Military Network to provide the unique backing and mentoring they need in civilian careers. If any (ex)service personnel need guidance, help or support with regards to their cyber career, please reach out.

About the Employer Recognition Scheme

The Employer Recognition Scheme is accessible online and uses a tiered approach for awards. At the Bronze level employers are able to state their intent to support Defence, the regional Silver level recognises employers who actively demonstrate support and at the highest national level the Gold awards recognise those who have become advocates. A dedicated website supports the Employer Recognition Scheme allowing organisations to declare their support at Bronze level and for nominations to be made for both Gold and Silver awards.
